Xbox may spawn entertainment hub

Microsoft plans to transform its new Xbox game console into a general home device that handles everything from e-mail to video recording, according to analysts.

Esta es una idea interesante y muy posible de hacer con un Xbox: crear un "media control center" alrededor de una cónsola de juegos. Ya tienes el DVD, el disco duro y la red ethernet. Hecho correctamente podrías tener laptops (ó desktops) alrededor de la casa conectados al Xbox, que se encontraría en el TV room.

Podrías grabar video (como un TiVO ó ReplayTV) y guardar archivos MP3 en el disco duro del Xbox y verlos/oirlos en cualquier computadora de la casa (video/audio streaming).

Claro que si no te interesa un Xbox no se si estarías dispuesto a pagar el costo adicional.

Si la tecnología .Net tiene éxito, esto podría ser un producto interesante. Imagínate estar viendo televisión y recibir un .Net Alert avisándote que cambió el precio de algunas acciones en que has invertido ó que aparezca un titular de prensa de tu interés ó inclusive un mensaje de algún amigo. Llevándolo al extremo, podrías recibir información sobre el programa que estás viendo.

No me importaría tener algo así... siempre y cuando mi computadora (con todas sus comodidades) siguiera existiendo dentro del paquete.
